You've left Sooriya Sedai's study, and head down the hallway to your new room. There are no
decorations, except the Flame of Tar Valon on the cold hard marble floor.  Carrying the few personal
items you were allowed to keep, you take a step forward, enter the windowless room, and begin your
journey with the Tower.  After looking around at the stark furnishings, you decide to go look for the
girl you were assigned to.  She tells you that you have tonight off to get settled in and for the tour of
the Tower.
This list is by no means exhaustive, but it does outline most the major rules. Remember that there are so many rules that it
can feel difficult not to break one.

Be on time to meals, chores, and classes.

Never speak to an Aes Sedai until she has addressed you.
Always use the “Sedai” title when speaking to an Aes Sedai using her name.
Curtsy when approached by or approaching an Aes Sedai.
Be respectful to all. Basically everyone is ranked above you, here.
Run errands for Aes Sedai, within reason.

Never channel or even Embrace alone; you must be supervised by an Accepted or Aes Sedai.
Do not attempt to channel weaves you have not been taught in class unless directed to by an instructor.

Chores should be completed quietly and without complaint.
Novice whites are to be neat at all times.
Rooms are to be neat at all times; inspection may occur at any moment.

Do not waste the time of Aes Sedai. Stick to the point when you speak to one, unless told otherwise by the sister.

Never leave the Tower grounds without an escort.
Be inside the Tower by dark every night. (The library does not count unless you have an escort.)
Men are not allowed in the novice quarters.
Any time spent with men should be done in plain view, like in the dining room or in an open area of the grounds, but
preferably not at all.
Novices should not be seen ogling the men in the training fields. While technically they are not forbidden from the area,
it is within the rights of Aes Sedai or Accepted to give you something more productive to do.
Novice Rules
Once your application is approved, make your way into the Tower and see the Mistress of Novices.  You will be assigned a
room and assigned to a novice who has been at the Tower awhile - this girl will give you a tour and answer any questions you
have both IC and OOC.

Post in the Novice Rooms.  Your post should say "N[your room number] - [Your Name's] Room" in the subject.

Complete Novice Channeling. Posts should be prompt and thorough, showing you character's struggle and growth. You
must pass Embracing Saidar before attending Novice Channeling if your character has never embraced properly. If you
have a Block, it needs to be dealt with. PM the Mistress of Novices for help with this.  Continue to practice channeling
and try to perfect what you have learned under the supervision of an Accepted or Aes Sedai.  Take at least two non-
channeling classes to completion, with prompt and thorough posts.

Prove at least five full posts of your character completing chores – not including penances. (Dishes, laundry, serving in
the Aes Sedai Dining Room, groundskeeping, cleaning the novice quarters; no reason not to have at least one of each,
probably more of dishes and laundry as IC they are completed every day.)

Serve as a runner in the Antechambers of the Amyrlin's Study at least once.

Display an appropriate amount of time having passed, and your character's personal growth in this time, in both the
Power and personality and becoming acquainted with other residents of the Tower. Remember that the average
amount of time it takes to go from novice to Accepted is 10 years.

After 8 weeks of all above, you may be asked to for links to the threads you've posted in by the Amyrlin or Mistress of
Novices.  Novice may then be asked to write a page on her experiences channeling (after your Embracing class).  Based
on that essay and the proof of you meeting the requirements, you will either be nominated for raising, decided that you
aren't and "put out of the Tower" (either into the Kin or just sent away, depending on if you want to keep roleplaying, if
you decide to join the Kin you do have a chance at coming back to the Tower as a Novice again...it is also your choice to
decide your character isn't strong enough to remain in the Tower and to go to the Kin), or you may request to be
granted allowances for more time.

Novice is either raised or leaves the Tower.  We nominate novices for raising based on character development as well -
your posts should be detailed, showing us who your character is, not just what she does.  We do understand that on
occasion there is need for a shorter post, but please try not to make a habit of it.  Novice journals are another good place
for novices to develop their characters - they are optional.

We've done away with "time limits" as they seem to be unrealistic, however if you are going to be away from the Tower
for an extended period of time, please contact Sooriya Sedai (MistressOfNovices@The-White-Tower.com)
